History Title
Bahas On The Beach

The BaHa Brothers band was born in 1992, when friends and band mates Jay Gonsalves, Bill Strojny, and Matt Wasylow decided that there was a need for a beach party, "happy hour" type band in the Cape Cod and Boston areas.

A band that would be best at home playing a cocktail hour on the deck of a Cape Cod beach bar on a booze cruise out of Boston Harbor.

This trio honed their craft together for several months before, after much badgering, coaxing a retired sax player by the name of Pete Hebert to come out and join the fun.

When Pete joined a few months later, the lineup was solidified for many years to come.

Polishing the act to incorporate the summertime mentality of Jimmy Buffett and his band of followers - The Parrotheads - The Baha Brothers became tremendously successful, actually acting as opening act for Jimmy Buffett at the Great Woods concert venue and playing fairs, casinos, huge events, and bars all over the country.

One of those bars was (and still is) Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Cafe in Key West Florida.

The band has even appeared on regional and national television, performing on Fox Boston's Zip Trip and ESPN's Cold Pizza.

Over the years, drummer John Correia was added to fill a much needed percussion void, while Steve Macomber replaced departed friend and mate Matt on guitar, who left to pursue other interests.

What does all this have to do with the Sandbar Grill?  Glad you asked!

The Baha Brothers have played in Key West Florida for over ten years now, frequenting the Duval Street venues that have made it a national landmark!

Over and over, the guys would say."if we had a place up North, we'd do it like this!" Good friend John Decker and BaHa Brothers road manager Joe O'Connell agreed, and signed on as partners to help create "The Vision"!
